“Hi! I don’t know how to get in.”
Jenn stood in the apartment house entry and buzzed the room. She’d been invited to dinner near a different campus, the University of Freiburg. The students hosting the dinner are involved with Campus für Christus and were expecting her, but assumed she was a German student. When they heard her speaking English, they realized an American was coming to their event; Jenn became an instant novelty.
After a warm welcome, the hostesses treated Jenn and the other four guests to a great dinner of turkey, salad, and different spreads to put on bread slices. Afterwards, the students met the other dinner groups for dessert downtown. About fifty students from different campuses in Freiburg attended the event and Jenn enjoyed meeting lots of new people.
Jenn plans to return to the Thursday night meetings of Campus für Christus, the German student ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ, International. (Campus für Christus has had a ministry in Germany since 1966.)
NOTE: Jenn’s tee-shirt was a handmade gift from a friend and says basically (in German), “I’m an English major, you do the math.” She was attending a May Day picnic (a typical activity for this German holiday) when the picture was taken.

Day of Prayer
Twice per year since its founding, the movement of Campus Crusade for Christ meets for a Day of Prayer. Today, we’ll suspend our day-to-day operations and meet with all the staff at headquarters to pray for the needs of our ministry and the advancement of God’s kingdom. We included links below to prayer requests if you would like to join us.
100 Days of Prayer
We also learned that the JESUS Film Project began 100 Days of Prayer, starting on April 2nd, when their new director took over from Jim and Nan Green. We’ll miss having Jim at the helm, but were very moved by this video interview of Erick and Elizabeth Schenkel. Click on over to the video to learn the story of their ministry in Central Asia and what God did when they returned to their ministry there after suffering from severe beatings. (You might also like to join the friends and staff who are part of the JESUS Film Project as they focus on the Lord. They are on day eighteen today and invite you to join them.)

We have encouraging news to share with you from Romania. Their campus ministry has an effective partnership with churches, training high school and university students together.
A New Life
The Romanian students organized evangelistic seminars and shared their faith in dorms, malls, and parks. In two weeks of walking around one town, the staff and students spoke with 200 people. Only one refused to talk with them while eighty indicated decisions for Christ. Initially Simion didn’t want to talk with them, but they presented the booklet, “Choose Life,” inviting him to ask God into his life. To their surprise Simion prayed and then he said, “You’re God’s angels. He sent you to save my life.” Simion had planned to take his life on the very bench where they were sitting. His parents had died the year before. His brother and sister sold the family home without his knowledge and gave him nothing. He lost his job when the company he worked for went bankrupt. He felt as if he had nothing to live for. Now SImion is coming to church each week and has asked to be baptized.
Summer Camp
The high point in the Romanian campus ministry each year is the ten-day summer camp. The seventy students who participated last summer were challenged to make Jesus and His moral values fundamental in their lives. During this camp, the students who have not yet placed their faith in Christ live closely with the Christians and see the Gospel through their friends’ actions, attitudes, and speech.
Student Conference
Thirty-eight Romanian students joined another 250 + students from fifteen countries for a conference this past week. We’ve included photos of students from one Romanian campus so you can pray specifically for them, and for all the students, that they will dedicate their lives entirely to the extension of God’s Kingdom. Their immediate challenge is to reach 14 million college students on more than 3,000 campuses in Eastern Europe and Russia.
Thank you for joining with us in equipping students around the world to reach their campuses for Christ
