We like to post tips so you know about different things to do in your travels. Recently, we discovered Festivals of Speed, which is held in four different locations in Florida. We learned about it through an offer to get in for half price with a Living Social coupon.
We drove up to the quiet town of Howey-in-the-Hills, where dozens of “exotic cars” were on display on the beautiful Mission Inn’s golf course. (We never did see Howey.)
In addition to the “exotic cars” we saw boats, classic cars, and sports cars. In this photo, we’re posing with a
Mosler, which is a Florida-made car that we hadn’t heard of before. We even saw a humble, little VW bug! It seemed out-of-place.
The most expensive vehicle on the property? An $800,000 motor home. (Personally, I’d rather people spent that kind of money on missions or something instead of on themselves).

“Hi! I don’t know how to get in.”
Jenn stood in the apartment house entry and buzzed the room. She’d been invited to dinner near a different campus, the University of Freiburg. The students hosting the dinner are involved with Campus für Christus and were expecting her, but assumed she was a German student. When they heard her speaking English, they realized an American was coming to their event; Jenn became an instant novelty.
After a warm welcome, the hostesses treated Jenn and the other four guests to a great dinner of turkey, salad, and different spreads to put on bread slices. Afterwards, the students met the other dinner groups for dessert downtown. About fifty students from different campuses in Freiburg attended the event and Jenn enjoyed meeting lots of new people.
Jenn plans to return to the Thursday night meetings of Campus für Christus, the German student ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ, International. (Campus für Christus has had a ministry in Germany since 1966.)
NOTE: Jenn’s tee-shirt was a handmade gift from a friend and says basically (in German), “I’m an English major, you do the math.” She was attending a May Day picnic (a typical activity for this German holiday) when the picture was taken.

As you know, Jenn’s in Germany. The semesters are different than in the States, so she’ll be taking classes (in German) starting Monday and through July. We’re waiting to hear what classes she’ll be taking. I’m sure she’ll appreciate your prayers for her to be safe and healthy and to do well in her studies.
She had a wonderful few weeks as an intern at The Art Factory in Kandern, Germany. She made some new friends, hiked, and made a trip into Basel, Switzerland. She’s now in Freiburg, Germany, which is a university town in the Black Forest region. Many universities are located there. Again, she’s hiking and making new friends. They’re all hoping to make some weekend trips together.
Her past two weeks, she’s been busy with registration and orientation for the international students. This picture is from a recent hike (with Jenn in the center, and her two fellow students from Stetson, and some of their new friends from Canada and Serbia).
I’ll write about her time in Germany once in a while, but you can follow her new blog directly; she’s sharing photos and stories regularly at the brightest and the darkest. Jenn’s already written some great posts, like her adventures this past weekend, including Easter Mass in the cathedral, which you’ll enjoy reading about. In the upper right corner of Jenn’s blog, you can subscribe with your email address to receive a notice when she writes something new. She’d love to have you join her travels.
