I hear you, Patsy! I’ve experienced this when:

  • Someone has confronted me about one of my weaknesses. Ouch!
  • I’ve stepped on the scale and realized that BIG changes need to happen. Yikes. I’ve realized I need to exercise more or make nutritional changes. Ugh.
  • I need to stop being conflict-avoidant in my marriage. Ooooooo
  • My addiction becomes intolerable: for me it’s been sugar. Bummer!
  • I fought accepting that sin separated me from God. Eternal pain!

What about you? Is there a truth you want to avoid, but accepting and working through the agony will ultimately set you free? More

What Can Man Do to Me?

He continued with his loud, scoffing remarks as I quickly walked away. I had given “Would You Like To Know God Personally?” to this clerk in the electronics section of Wal-Mart.

Don’t be afraid to encounter the scoffers. The blessings of encountering receptive people FAR outweighs any negative experiences.

In handing out tracts to hundreds of people for the past thirty-five years, only four people refused my offer of a booklet and they did so politely. The vast majority accept tracts and many of those people are even enthusiastic. The man at Wal-Mart was making a scene and is the only negative experience I have had in over thirty years of witnessing.

I realize the people in your part of the world may be less open. . . even hostile.

I hope this excerpt from page 150 in The Move of the Holy Spirit in the 10/40 Window by Luis Bush and Beverly Peques is an encouragement to you:

Easter Outreach Ideas

I’m addressing Easter cards this week and remembered I want to be more intentional about sharing my faith, especially at this time of year. I’m sure you know Easter draws a lot of people to church services who otherwise wouldn’t go during the rest of the year, so it’s naturally a good time to invite friends and neighbors to church, but your co-workers and many people you encounter while running errands would also be open to conversations about Easter.

I highly recommend you check out the “10 Easter Outreach Ideas” on Campus Crusade for Christ’s website.

Here’s my recommendations as well:

Another resource (that I haven’t used) is a set of Resurrection Eggs®.  (You can find them at Wal-Mart, too).  Our FamilyLife ministry shares a true story of using their Resurrection Eggs® to share the Gospel:

Choosing Your Faith

I highly recommend Choosing Your Faith by Mark Mittelberg. ( You can learn more about the book by watching Lee Strobel’s interview of Mark.)  The author helps readers discover how to choose what to believe; I’ve given this book to two young non-believers.

You may also want to have copies of the Choosing Your Faith New Testament. I have some in our home that I give to people who are interested in knowing Christ. These paperback Bibles are in the easy-to-understand New Living Translation. This New Testament also features several of Mark’s articles about why we believe in order to help readers make a decision about their faith.
