The Truth WILL Set You Free

I hear you, Patsy! I’ve experienced this when:

Someone has confronted me about one of my weaknesses. Ouch!
I’ve stepped on the scale and realized that BIG changes need to happen. Yikes. I’ve realized I need to exercise more or make nutritional changes. Ugh.
I need to stop being conflict-avoidant in my marriage. Ooooooo
My addiction becomes intolerable: for me it’s been sugar. Bummer!
I fought accepting that sin separated me from God. Eternal pain!

What about you? Is there a truth you want to avoid, but accepting and working through the agony will ultimately set you free? More

Jesus and Luther on Pride

God’s Direction for Your Life

About twelve years ago, I heard a talk on Ephesians 2: 8 – 9 – 10:

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

The speaker , Judy Douglass, explained that “God’s masterpiece” in the Greek could also be translated, “God’s poem.” After the message, I felt deeply loved, knowing that God, the Master artist, created me for a purpose. I took Judy’s challenge to heart and prayed about the verse and what it meant for me. After two weeks of focusing on this passage, I sensed God’s clear direction which I am still following today. I have a deep sense of fulfillment and also of challenge, because God has given my life meaning.

How long has it been since you’ve read through the Declaration of Independence? It won’t take long. Set aside that bowl of potato salad and your grilled hot dog and then follow the link to the U.S. government site for The Declaration of Independence for a little history review and an opportunity to read and meditate on these great words.
