We had a nice, leisurely day at Gatorland last Saturday. Sus is an avid birdwatcher so she especially enjoyed seeing the rookery. We watched egrets build nests and saw an egg in one nest and an adult feeding a hatchling in another one! We also saw four spoonbills nesting. The late sun over the lagoon made for good photography. Gatorland is offering a Florida resident special through February, so the park was crowded, but crowds were thinnest either early in the day or late. We like to go to Campus Crusade’s annual Christmas party at headquarters. We have a large quadrangle between the two main buildings which is a great place for a LARGE get-together. After two months of dedicated work, Jenny’s school put on three performances of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. This photo of Jenny was taken backstage, ringlets and all. She had a great time re-creating the Cratchit family. The youngest family members were children of some of the teachers. We thought they did an excellent job on set design, costumes, and acting. Ben is moved in to his new apartment this week and ready to start work on his first full-time permanent job on Monday. Ben, Mike and Sus took three days to drive (31 hours round trip) with his car and our van packed with his things. We had most of Tuesday to help him unpack and run some errands. We had barely unloaded the van when one of his “neighbors” dropped by to say “Hello.” It appears, though, that this little guy looks more interested in visiting the kitchen than getting to know the new neighbor from Florida!
