Bonnie in Brazil – December 2010

Bonnie is so excited about the mission trip she helped lead to Brazil in December. Her team just presented a recap of the trip at their church in this video. She speaks at the beginning of the video.

Let’s also find out some of the highlights of the trip from a letter Bonnie mailed out:

Our team of eleven set out on Dec 3rd, 2010. There was so much that God had yet to show us, including strength and perseverance in prayer, joy in the midst of chaos, and trust and full reliance on Him for provision, which my team and I experienced all throughout this trip to Brazil! I want to share with you some of my actual journal entries while in country so you can see how God truly shaped this trip! Continue reading “Bonnie in Brazil – December 2010”

Praying for Jenn’s Mission Trip

Jenn just left on a week-long mission trip to New Orleans with her Wesley House Christian group from Stetson University. They just arrived in New Orleans early this morning until the 10th to help with Habitat for Humanity in rebuilding homes devastated by the hurricanes. Thank you for safety for the eighteen students, good health, and the ability to minister to families still struggling. We hope to post pictures and a blog entry when she gets back home. Vero Beach

Some ideas for when you visit Vero Beach.
The Ocean Grill has very tasty food (pricey, though) and a fun, eclectic interior. You could park near the restaurant and do shops and walk the beach. There’s plenty of beach access points along A1A north and south of Vero Beach. Disney has a resort north of the restaurant on A1A.
We stopped at the McLarty Treasure Museum. It was fascinating to learn about 1,500 survivors stranded here when a fleet of Spanish treasure ships sank off the coast in 1715.
We only had a half hour to stop at Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge. I can’t guarantee you would see dolphins, but if you want to try, we saw a pod of dolphins feeding in the river.
Here’s a good list of things to do in and near Vero Beach. Continue reading Vero Beach

The mission team will be visiting schools and holding events for children in association with Open Arms Brazil. Most of the kids they will be working with come from broken homes or are orphans. The children often get involved in crime, drugs, and prostitution at an … Continue reading Praying for Bonnie in Brazil

Ben’s Engaged

We’re very happy to announce Ben’s engagement to Bonnie Jones. On October 23rd, Ben took Bonnie around to all the places that were special in their relationship. Then, as they were cruising down the Potomac, he got down on one knee and presented a beautiful engagement ring to her. Ben took this photo right afterwards with his phone with Bonnie happily showing off her ring. This past week, they asked Josh to be the best man and asked Jenn to be a bridesmaid. We’ll all be heading to Virginia for a beautiful wedding on May 14th next year. So… you’ll … Continue reading Ben’s Engaged

Ben’s Prize-winning Cookies

Ben enjoys cooking, as you can see in this photo of Ben and Bonnie with a Black Forest Cake. Last month, his church had a cookie contest and the Bible study group he’s in made over 200 cookies and entered three cookie recipes. All three won. When he gives me the recipe for the White Chocolate Macadamia cookies, I’ll add it here. Follow this link for the Pumpkin cookie recipe and for a photo of Ben and his Bible study friends. They struck this pose last May at the wedding of one of the guys from their group. Ben is … Continue reading Ben’s Prize-winning Cookies
