Mike Assists Missions Trips

Every year, Cru mobilizes thousands of students to join the Great Commission. We send them to reach others with the message of Christ through summer missions. Mike is humbled and grateful to have a part in these missions.

The Summer Mission Tool (SMT)

In 2021, Mike worked with our field ministries to support shorter trips throughout the year. His team did this by expanding our Summer Mission Tool (SMT). Mike recently worked with our FamilyLife ministry to adapt this tool for “family-oriented” mission trips.

Cru’s summer mission trips provide opportunities for our students and missionary staff to reach thousands of people with the gospel. This summer, we saw 1,515 students and 784 Cru staff take part in 111 summer missions in the U.S. and overseas. They initiated 34,938 spiritual conversations, presented the gospel 13,323 times, and saw 1,349 people trust Christ.

Mike also worked with a group from our Campus Ministry and U.S. Technology teams to build a “bridge” between Filter of Hope’s software and Cru’s systems. (See our last prayer letter for more about this.)

A Texas church group of families traveled to Mexico in partnership with Cru’s FamilyLife ministry and Filterofhope.com. The participants learned how to explain the water filters and the gospel. They presented their faith to 74 people in four days and saw 19 indicate decisions for Christ.

A Big Thank You

The Director of Mission Trip Operations, Amy, calls herself a very happy customer. After the improvements to the SMT, Amy wrote this endorsement:

“I’ve been working with Mike for several years. Mike’s wisdom, perspective, and technical knowledge have been invaluable to me and my team. We train staff, students, and volunteers to lead mission trips. The tool allows us to send 250+ mission trips from the campus ministry. We manage them as efficiently as we do because of Mike’s role and his team. Your donations toward his ministry are an incredibly strategic investment in reaching the nations for Christ.”

A Personal Update

We usually have family time every month in Orlando or in Jacksonville. It’s been a joy to have family nearby. AND Brian, Jenn, and Kent flew down from Minnesota. We’re excited that we were all together for Thanksgiving.

We’d appreciate your prayers that the Lord would supply the extra funds we need for medical and dental needs this past year. We’re thankful for good medical care and insurance coverage. We’re grateful, too, for your prayers and for the generosity you’ve shown to us.
