How God Encouraged Me

God encouraged me a lot in the last two months. I received an encouraging analysis of my writing style and more than five kind emails. I also had a chance to meet two of our international Cru staff. You make it possible for us to serve the Lord, so you should receive this encouragement, too.

My blog, eQuipping4eMinistry.com is my main ministry to Christian workers (not just Cru). I write about technology in an easily understood way so missionaries can use these tools for their ministries. I also consult with Cru staff through emails, social media, and phone calls.

How God Encouraged Me

A recent analysis of my writing, said “Only 3.8% of people share your writing personality.”  The report described my writing style in more detail.

I was surprised to learn about my unique voice. I am grateful God has given me a rare gift I can use to His glory. It’s very fulfilling to touch people’s lives through writing.

Damian and Sofia (Greek Cru staff on a trip to Florida)

Damian wrote: “I found your blog about 2-3 weeks ago and I am so excited! Thank you for sharing your experiences! Your posts are a great help. You give practical information and advice. Just wanted to encourage you to continue! “

I was able to meet this sweet couple about two weeks later. Sofia said Damian is my biggest fan. He’s been telling other Greek staff to read my blog, eQuipping4eMinistry. Damian liked most of all that he felt like I was talking to him in a direct and friendly way.

Hearing how useful my blog posts are to this couple lifted my spirits. I also learned from them what topics are most helpful for Cru’s European staff.

Kirk (and his wife have been on Cru staff as long as I, about fifty years)

Kirk wrote: “Grateful for your serving, helping others to be more effective and efficient.”

Kirk has emailed me several times a year since 2017. He appreciates what I write. He cheers me on and asks questions from time to time. We’ve never met (I think we’ll try to meet him this summer).

Kirk’s example inspires me to reach out to others to spur them on in their ministries.

Melanie (transferring from Cru to a different mission agency)

Melanie writes often, as well. Once, she responded to a blog post: “How do you always know what I need help with!?” (God gets the credit for that!)

Recently, she wrote: “As I reflect on my time with Cru, a few special people have risen to the surface who have made a lasting impression on my life and whom I would love to continue a friendship … as co-laborers and sisters in Christ. I’m so grateful for your impact on my life. Your work continues to enhance the lives of all of those who get the privilege of serving with you. You are the best!”

Like many of my readers, Melanie has become a friend. She has asked about my health and prayed for me. We’ve sought each other’s advice. I’m grateful for a community of spirit-filled believers who encourage me.

Some Thoughts on Encouragement

God wants us to encourage one another. Paul writes in 1 Thessalonians 5:11, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

Here are a few positive impacts encouragement has on us.

  • Encouragement can boost our confidence in our strengths and potential.
  • We have increased motivation to pursue our goals and overcome obstacles.
  • Knowing others want us to succeed strengthens our sense of connection and belonging.

We need encouragement:

  • when times are tough
  • when we feel alone
  • when we doubt ourselves

We hope you are encouraged by this little glimpse of what God is doing through your partnership with us.

YOU have been an encouragement to us over many years. We are so grateful for your faithful prayers and financial investment in our ministry. Thank you for joining with us in helping our Cru missionary staff.
