One Way to Feed the Hungry

I’m not a shopper. However, I DO like to share my faith with people I encounter, so when I reluctantly had to make a shopping trip a few weeks ago, I still looked forward to going because I never know who I might get to talk to. I had a fun conversation with the check-out clerk, which I’ll save for another post, and was driving out of the parking lot, ready to get home and back to my list of projects planned for a very busy day. I was fifth in a line of cars, waiting to turn out of … Continue reading One Way to Feed the Hungry

Ben’s Engaged

We’re very happy to announce Ben’s engagement to Bonnie Jones. On October 23rd, Ben took Bonnie around to all the places that were special in their relationship. Then, as they were cruising down the Potomac, he got down on one knee and presented a beautiful engagement ring to her. Ben took this photo right afterwards with his phone with Bonnie happily showing off her ring. This past week, they asked Josh to be the best man and asked Jenn to be a bridesmaid. We’ll all be heading to Virginia for a beautiful wedding on May 14th next year. So… you’ll … Continue reading Ben’s Engaged

When he gives me the recipe for the White Chocolate Macadamia cookies, I’ll add it here. Follow this link for the Pumpkin cookie recipe and for a photo of Ben and his Bible study friends. They struck this pose last May at the wedding of one of the guys from their group. Ben is … Continue reading Ben’s Prize-winning Cookies

Rescuing Men from Darkness

“In His hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are His also.” ~ Psalm 95:4
“Porque en su mano estan las profundidades de la tierra, y las Alturas de los montes son suyas.” ~ Salmos 95:4
“… the Chilean TV says that 1,000,000,000 of people were watching the rescue of the Chilean miners.
“… which brings to mind Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. He gave His life as a ransom to rescue humanity, and has demonstrated that He is an expert at freeing souls that are trapped in the depths of the abyss.
“… it was humble men, who had no public or media relevance before the collapse of the mine, who installed the quote of the event all the different media platforms all over the world. I suspect that ‘Thank you Lord!’ was the general feeling of the entire Chilean population. Continue reading Rescuing Men from Darkness

A Light in Jerusalem

Labib was running late… “May I see your identification?” An Israeli soldier barred his way…
“Stand against the wall,” the soldier ordered, indicating with a nod of his head that he should line up with several other Palestinians and wait…
“May I say something to you?” he said in passable Hebrew to the soldier who was poring over several sets of papers. “I am a Christian… What I mean is that I am a believer in Jesus Christ, not just a Christian by religion only. Do you know about Jesus Christ? I will tell you about Him!” And so Labib began to tell the story of his Lord.
… While most Palestinians dreaded these inevitable checkpoints that severely restricted their mobility, Labib had come to enjoy the encounters. And he knew the freedom he experienced at these moments was something worth sharing with fellow Palestinians.

Excerpt from Light Force by Brother Andrew Continue reading A Light in Jerusalem
