We were visiting the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola and noticed this lighthouse across the road. We also saw old forts on the Naval Air Station property as we drove out. We highly recommend the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola. We only spent two hours there. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour which gave us a history of the development of naval aviation. This tour is perfect if you only have a short time to visit. If we go back I would want to have more time to see the displays. I would also check ahead to see when they are offering their outside tours and when the Blue Angels are scheduled to practice. We saw some other aircraft landing and taking off while we were there. We really enjoyed this lovely plantation. We had a simple breakfast in their restaurant mid-morning and then took a slower pace, enjoying the beautiful grounds before taking the house tour. Afterwards, we drove along the Mississippi River to see if we could photograph other plantations. We were able to see three more plantations along route 18. If you want a nice day trip you could photograph even more along The River Road between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Our photos are of Oak Alley, Evergreen, Laura, and St. Joseph. Occasionally we like to get off the interstate and enjoy a scenic drive. We thoroughly enjoyed driving on 98 in Florida from Medart to Panama City. I recommend this stretch of road along the Gulf Coast for a drive, for relaxing on the beach, for wildlife viewing, for photography, or for a quiet getaway. It was a beautiful day and I wished we had a bit more time for taking more photos. We did stop a couple of times for some great shots that we can share with you. We had a nice, leisurely day at Gatorland last Saturday. Sus is an avid birdwatcher so she especially enjoyed seeing the rookery. We watched egrets build nests and saw an egg in one nest and an adult feeding a hatchling in another one! We also saw four spoonbills nesting. The late sun over the lagoon made for good photography. Gatorland is offering a Florida resident special through February, so the park was crowded, but crowds were thinnest either early in the day or late.
