Your Work, Your Ministry

“A while back I was in Liverpool. I met a woman who had worked as an administrator in the National Health Service for seventeen years. She said to me, ‘Only last year I realised that this was my ministry.’ And she said these words to me: ‘How sad it is that so many Christians die without knowing the ministry God had for them.’” ~ from The Great Divide, page 11 I am keeping this entry very short with the hope that you will read The Great Divide: Overcoming the SSD Syndrome, a lecture by Mark Greene given in Belfast in … Continue reading Your Work, Your Ministry

In Memoriam

Even though we had known each other for fifteen years, I did not talk to our neighbor, Sonia, very often. We would have a little conversation once in a rare while. We prayed together out on the street the morning of 911. I had not really talked to her much since that morning as I stood at her door early in 2007. She invited me in and our conversation took an unexpected turn. “Rajan is an alcoholic,” she told me. I was shocked! I never suspected Sonia’s husband had a drinking problem. “I’m thinking about a divorce,” Sonia confessed. I … Continue reading In Memoriam

Give God More Room to Work

A white Christmas. Relaxing and playing games with the family. Next week promises to be another wonderful family get-together. I’m looking forward to it, especially since we have had an incredibly busy few weeks preparing for our Christmas celebration. I just have not had the time to post on The Sower this month like I wanted to. Thank you so much for reading the Sower. Have a great Christmas celebrating the birth of our Savior and I look forward to serving you in 2008 as God leads. I’m doing my last-minute packing and just remembered to pack my tracts for … Continue reading Give God More Room to Work

Your Stories

Today’s post is for you. I started the Sower on xanga.com on November 3, 2005. My first post was not even written by me, but was from a friend’s email. This post, The Harvest, is still very popular even two years later. In fact, I used an email from Janey again in my most recent post. Almost all my relatives are Christians. I am not overseas. I am not on a campus. I have never served in the military. I do not go to work 9 to 5, but YOU do. If you have a story about sharing your faith, … Continue reading Your Stories

A Walk By Faith

Strange noises from who knows what came out of the jungle. Every time Janey heard the strange sounds, she looked in the direction of the noise and fell into the underbrush . . . probably disturbing the “who-knows-whats” of the African bush. Earlier, Janey and a group of others had traveled for hours and arrived at “who-knows-where” and decided to have a picnic. They had been showing the “Jesus” film near Illoran, Nigeria, and decided to take a little break from the showings at a beautiful waterfall. Afterwards, they discovered the van was stuck. The group found several young boys … Continue reading A Walk By Faith

Get the facts on The Golden Compass

I’ve been following the buzz on The Golden Compass. It’s very important for Christians to get their facts straight so we do not send the wrong message to people. I recommend: • an excellent article from Christianity Today, and • also another perspective this article from Chuck Colson’s ministry to help you sort out fact from fiction.
