Are You Ready?

I recently had an encouraging phone call that reading The Sower has helped someone share Christ with a few people. So, I am passing along some practical tips today. Don’t let them overwhelm you. Pick one thing you would like to start doing. Of course, being on good terms with God is the most essential tool for being ready each day to share your faith. I will just mention this in general today. I know I also need to be more in prayer about opportunities and about people. How about you? Are you presentable? Do you look like an ambassador … Continue reading Are You Ready?

What price for salvation?

A young man waited at our door with a container of items at his feet. We have made it a policy not to support things we don’t know about, so I said “no” and then gave him a tract. I really wasn’t surprised later that day to see the tract tossed aside on my neighbor’s sidewalk. I did not “invest” in this young salesman to “gain a hearing” for the Gospel. Just spending time talking to him would have shown I really was interested in him. Would spending a few minutes or a few dollars have brought an eternal return? … Continue reading What price for salvation?

They need to see the light

“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16 Barry sat alone by the window, eating his sandwich and soup. He seemed like a kind, grandfatherly type, like someone you would enjoy as a neighbor. He was willing to answer our survey questions. “Who is God in your understanding,” Andi asked. “He is life.” Barry explained. “He is everything,” We also learned that he felt mankind was in a mess. He said the problem stemmed from hatred. Barry had friends who … Continue reading They need to see the light

The blind opening the eyes of those who see

I recently read this amazing true story and wanted to share it with you. Whatever you feel are your limitations, just trust and obey the Lord wherever He leads you and He will use you! “A blind septuagenarian African woman had a French Bible which she loved very much. She took it to the local missionary requesting him to highlight John 3:16 in red. This he did, without knowing her purpose. “The blind woman then sat at the school gate and asked the emerging pupils whether any of them knew French. Being proud of their knowledge of the language, they … Continue reading The blind opening the eyes of those who see

Which is more beautiful? A person’s feet or their tongue?

Which is more beautiful? A person’s feet or their tongue? “Well, that’s an unusual question,” you say as you picture pampered feet in a pair of pricey stilettos. Then you remember the rich tones of a Shakespearean actor or of your favorite singer, or the deep bass voice of your pastor reading the Word of God. You conclude that the tongue seems more important at least. Also, you know in witnessing to others it is even essential to be prepared to know what to say. However, God warns us in James 3: 8 – 11 that the tongue cannot be … Continue reading Which is more beautiful? A person’s feet or their tongue?

Martha? Or Mary?

“I don’t care what the Bible says,” Elma stated. I was a little taken aback by this statement and several others she made. I had put together a handful of verses for her, but she was obviously not going to be interested! She then told me a lot of her life story, mixed with tears. She had lost her husband thirty years ago and two of her children had died young. I decided afterward that I had prepared to talk to a “Martha,” but Elma was a “Mary.” One of God’s lessons for me this year comes from a message … Continue reading Martha? Or Mary?
