“Thank you,” Doctor Marty said, “these look interesting.” I handed four Creation magazines to him to leave out in his waiting room. If you are a frequent reader of The Sower, you may have noticed my posts have been irregular lately. I’ve been very busy with a lot of doctors’ appointments. Quite a few of these doctors are believers, so I’ve been offering them my back issues of Creation magazine. By sharing your old magazines, books, videos, and music, you will touch people’s lives. I also have more waiting room suggestions and more ideas about giving away Christian materials on … Continue reading Recycling

The Waiting Room

If you have Christian magazines, take some with you next time you are visiting a waiting room. Your pediatrician might enjoy having Focus on the Family magazines for his waiting room or exam rooms. The magazine could be their monthly newsletter magazine or a subscription. Take a handful of Significant Woman tracts with you on your mammogram appointment for the waiting room. (Beginning Your Journey of Significance and Living a Life of Significance). Maybe you have a Christian video for your doctor’s waiting room or flyers for your church’s next big outreach event. Praying for Europe

Four years ago, 40,000 Christians gathered in Basel, Switzerland, for prayer. God drew Christians from all 2800 Swiss political districts. This gathering was unprecedented. God was very obviously moving in people’s hearts to pray for their country. You can watch a video of Europe’s first day of prayer, Christustag.04 (Christ’s Day) and find prayer requests for the different European countries. Christ Day will begin this year on October 17th in Finland. Continue reading Praying for Europe

The Moral Choice

“Are you reading the Bible?” I asked as I sat at the kitchen table with a friend of our son’s, Aadesh. “Yes,” he replied. Aadesh had asked for a Bible earlier this summer after I had told him that the Bible had a lot to say about financial principles. “What are you reading?” “Romans,” he replied. Wow! I thought. What a deep book of the Bible to start in! Aadesh explained that some other people had recommended Romans as a good place to start with to learn what God says about finances. He was very interested and seemed to agree … Continue reading The Moral Choice

“One Master”

“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” ~ Luke 16:13 NLT “Just watch a child standing before a selection of candy after he has been told he can have something. Perhaps he ends up just looking. . . and looking. Maybe you see him reach for one thing, only to pull his hand back and start for another. What is the problem? Does the child not like candy? Certainly not! The problem is that the … Continue reading “One Master”

The Christian’s Secret of . . . Service

I am reading an abridged version of Hanna Whitall Smith’s The Christian Secret of a Happy Life. Her advice in her chapter, “Service”, is very encouraging. If you think you have to meet every need and help in every ministry opportunity, or you are unsure about what directions to take in ministry, she advises: “The life of trust also delivers us by reminding us no individual is responsible for all the work in the world, only for a small share. I may have five, or two, or only one talent. I am to do that which I am called to … Continue reading The Christian’s Secret of . . . Service
