Mike and Sus in Arizona

We enjoyed a wonderful trip to Phoenix February 2 through 5. Mike attended a conference in Albuquerque at the end of January. After the conference, Sus joined him in Phoenix so we could visit donors. We had a great time and were able to visit five families in three days. We arrived on Saturday afternoon, then for dinner, we drove out of the valley and saw a beautiful sunset on our way to Pinnacle Peak Patio for a cowboy dinner of beans and mesquite-grilled steak. Sus had been here before when she was a student at ASU. Pinnacle Peak Patio … Continue reading Mike and Sus in Arizona

Jenny Makes Second Campus Visit

Yes, our youngest is checking out colleges. Last year, we visited Flagler College. Today, we visited University of Florida. We will be going to visit Florida State in about six weeks. I took this photo of Jenny in The Swamp (UF’s stadium) with my little camera on my phone. After the tour, we met Josh and Ben who was visiting from Tallahassee. They took us to a very unique pizza place, Satchel’s. If you go to the restaurant’s web site, you will see the old VW van out front. Two tables are set up inside the van for dining. The … Continue reading Jenny Makes Second Campus Visit

Rivership Romance

Some of us from the Information Technology Group enjoyed a relaxing lunch and cruise on the St. John’s river. The food was delicious, and although a bit drizzly that day, we thoroughly enjoyed “going up a lazy river.” We recommend this cruise, on the Rivership Romance, for a slower-paced activity. We also enjoyed the natural Florida setting of birds, cypress swamp, and, yes, an alligator warming in the sun. Continue reading Rivership Romance

The kids surprised us with a delicious barbecue dinner at the ‘Ohana restaurant at Walt Disney World’s Polynesian resort. The food is great and if you ever have a chance to go, be sure to make your reservation well ahead of time. We walked around the grounds afterwards and enjoyed a breezy and beautiful Florida evening together. Continue reading Mike and Sus celebrate 25th anniversary

Alpacas and More on Trip to Ohio

I had a great visit to Ohio, so  I wrote the following narrative to explain the photos in the Ohio trip album. I visited a lot of friends and places. One of the big news items in May was the massive forest fire in Georgia. The pilot pointed it out to us as I flew over Georgia to Cleveland. The next day, I drove to Cincinnati. My friends drove me over to Kentucky to have a leisurely lunch on the Ohio River on a replica of a paddle wheel steamboat. As I headed back to Cleveland, I stopped in Coshocton for an … Continue reading Alpacas and More on Trip to Ohio

The next day in St. Augustine

We started our second day with a little birdwatching at a wildlife reserve and then headed into town to enjoy America’s oldest city. On this trip, we toured the Old Saint Augustine Village. We have made several trips to Saint Augustine. You can see selected photos from all the trips at The Schmitt Album, St. Augustine Trips. We want to also recommend, from a previous trip, dinner at the Creekside Dinery. The food was excellent and after dinner, we could sit on the patio next to the creek and roast marshmallows over a fire. NOTES: Go to this link to … Continue reading The next day in St. Augustine
