A Small Act of Kindness

Mark had just helped Bill pick up the books, sweaters, and other items he had just dropped. They were walking home from school and Mark continued to walk with Bill and they ended up spending the afternoon getting to know each other. Mark continued on home. They saw each other around school after that and went on to attend the same high school, where they saw each other occasionally. Just before graduation, Bill reminded Mark of the day they met. “Did you ever wonder why I was carrying so many things home that day?” he asked. “I cleaned out my … Continue reading A Small Act of Kindness

A Shot in the Dark

I was already awake at 3 AM, but this was not that unusual. It was only the second night and the hotel bed and I were still getting acquainted. As I tried laying on one side and then the other, two muffled gunshots turned the night on like a key in an ignition. The once still night air was now filled with loud voices. I got up to peer through the curtains. Just fifty yards from the hotel, a Waffle House parking lot was swarming with people, talking loudly. Most were in two large groups and more were inside the … Continue reading A Shot in the Dark

A Waste of Time?

The man next to me turned in his seat and loudly spoke to his wife across the aisle and back a row, “Do you have a book?” he asked her, and then added, “If someone sits next to me, they should talk to me.” He reached across the aisle and tucked the Stephen King book in the pocket on the back of the seat in front of him. This gentleman had only just seated himself next to me and I had been looking at a magazine. … Continue reading A Waste of Time?

Your Work, Your Ministry

In Memoriam

Even though we had known each other for fifteen years, I did not talk to our neighbor, Sonia, very often. We would have a little conversation once in a rare while. We prayed together out on the street the morning of 911. I had not really talked to her much since that morning as I stood at her door early in 2007. She invited me in and our conversation took an unexpected turn. “Rajan is an alcoholic,” she told me. I was shocked! I never suspected Sonia’s husband had a drinking problem. “I’m thinking about a divorce,” Sonia confessed. I … Continue reading In Memoriam

Give God More Room to Work

A white Christmas. Relaxing and playing games with the family. Next week promises to be another wonderful family get-together. I’m looking forward to it, especially since we have had an incredibly busy few weeks preparing for our Christmas celebration. I just have not had the time to post on The Sower this month like I wanted to. Thank you so much for reading the Sower. Have a great Christmas celebrating the birth of our Savior and I look forward to serving you in 2008 as God leads. I’m doing my last-minute packing and just remembered to pack my tracts for … Continue reading Give God More Room to Work
