Restaurants in DeLand, Florida

We’ve been able to explore some of the many good restaurants in DeLand, Florida, often walking from Stetson University campus to the historic downtown. I’ll add to this list over time.  We recommend all of these. Restaurants in DeLand, Florida Angelina’s Pizzeria has delicious pizzas and Italian food at affordable prices.  Our portions were large, so you could share. Bill & Frank’s Brickhouse Grill has delicious food, but can get too crazy-busy on a weekend night, so try another time. Boston Coffeehouse I loved the decor (the original Boston Coffeehouse is on New York Ave.) and my sandwich on a … Continue reading Restaurants in DeLand, Florida

75th Bach Festival

This year is the 75th anniversary of the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park. Tonight, we attended a free open rehearsal for the big anniversary concert that will be performed on the 20th. While waiting for the rehearsal to start, Sus had an opportunity to shake hands with the conductor, Dr. John Sinclair. “Thank you so much for the Christmas Candlelight Processional concerts at EPCOT,” I said. “Why, thank you for saying that,” he replied. “I just did my 500th performance this past year. I thought I would quit after 500, but I am going to keep doing them.” After … Continue reading 75th Bach Festival

Busch Gardens in Tampa

Mike and Sus had an opportunity to go to Busch Gardens for a day. We wanted to see their Christmas shows and their decorations. We were not disappointed. We enjoyed a very good Gospel-style Christmas concert and a great ice skating show. Both shows were very well done. For dinner we also recommend the Zambia Smokehouse in Stanleyville. We were able to share a meal because of the portion sizes and the food was delicious! At the end of the day, the lighting was fantastic… a photographer’s delight! We were really pleased with our photos and have posted several animal … Continue reading Busch Gardens in Tampa

Around Lake Michigan

After Staff Training, we went to visit our financial partners and friends from Green Bay, Wisconsin, to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Instead of turning around and re-tracing our route, we continued the drive and went around Lake Michigan. We slowed our pace and stopped to see lighthouses, beaches, and historic sites. This photo is of the Mackinac Light and Bridge. We also went up to Sault Ste. Marie and saw a little bit of Lake Superior and watched a barge and boats go through the locks. We had a great trip and have lots of captioned photos to share with you. Continue reading Around Lake Michigan

A Colorado Road Trip

We always have one day off during the middle of Campus Crusade’s National Staff Conference. We usually like to get up into the mountains and do some hiking. After walking around Lily Lake, it started to drizzle, so we went for a little drive and discovered a 1920’s Bucyrus-Erie steam shovel in operation at a museum right along the road in Nederland, Colorado. Of course, we had to get out of the car and watch! If you would enjoy captioned photos from our day in the mountains, go to our online photo album. To read more about Staff Training, see … Continue reading A Colorado Road Trip
