Jenn Receives Honors

Jenn visited us last weekend and shared about a few encouraging events on campus recently…

She was invited to an honors banquet where she received the Outstanding Senior award in German and also was one of five receiving an Outstanding Senior award in English.

Several days later, Stetson students gave oral presentations of their research projects all day long for the faculty and other students to listen and learn from their studies.  (This annual event is called Stetson Showcase).  Jen’s paper, “Two Women in Conversation: a Blues Approach to May Ayim and Audre Lorde“, earned second place in her category. Jenn Wins 2013 Undergraduate Tutor Award

Jenn won the prestigious 2013 Undergraduate Tutor Award at the Southeastern Writing Center Association (SWCA) conference in Ft. Lauderdale last month.

Jenn has been a tutor at the Stetson Writing Center for four years, except for her one semester studying abroad. She thoroughly loves teaching writing skills and is focusing her efforts on becoming an English professor. Continue reading “Jenn Wins 2013 Undergraduate Tutor Award”

Birding at Circle B Bar Reserve

I recently discovered Circle B Bar Reserve  near Lakeland, Florida, a fantastic birding spot! We were only there for a little over two hours (and didn’t even walk a mile into the reserve… all the birds were about a quarter mile from the nature center). Even at noon the birds were active and out in the open.
