Nephew Becomes Youth Pastor

We are proud to announce that our nephew, Aaron, has accepted the call to be the youth pastor at Colgate Baptist Church. Aaron, and his wife, Theresa, also have jobs so theirs will be a bivocational ministry. Aaron wrote: “I am super excited about our new youth group and leading them straight to the cross. We can’t wait to get started ministering and discipling these kids and helping to grow the kingdom of God. We are just blessed to be serving by the mercy of God and are so excited to be doing what we love and where our hearts … Continue reading Nephew Becomes Youth Pastor

Happy Birthday to…

Today is my spiritual birthday. February 19th, 1973, was President’s Day. I didn’t have to go to any classes that morning. The first thing I thought of when I woke up was, “Why am I fighting it? If Jesus said He died for my sins, then I should just accept that.” So, I got down on my knees and thanked Jesus for forgiving my sins. 75th Bach Festival

This year is the 75th anniversary of the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park. Tonight, we attended a free open rehearsal for the big anniversary concert that will be performed on the 20th. While waiting for the rehearsal to start, Sus had an opportunity to shake hands with the conductor, Dr. John Sinclair. “Thank you so much for the Christmas Candlelight Processional concerts at EPCOT,” I said. “Why, thank you for saying that,” he replied. “I just did my 500th performance this past year. I thought I would quit after 500, but I am going to keep doing them.” After … Continue reading 75th Bach Festival

Arts Fest

We did not know that for more than twenty years Arts Fest has been offering free admission to different venues in four central Florida counties. We decided to participate. Today, we dropped in on the Out of This World exhibit at the History Center in downtown Orlando. We saw sci-fi props and costumes from Star Trek, Star Wars, and more. Last week, we visited the Cornell Fine Arts Museum on the beautiful campus of Rollins College. We were particularly fascinated with a traveling exhibit, Man and Machine, which featured Soviet posters from Stalin’s time. Downtown Winter Park is next to … Continue reading Arts Fest

Baby Owls

We thoroughly enjoyed seeing these baby Horned Owls huddled together against the wind. The couple who own the property have a webcam hooked up to their TV and invited us in to see the owlets.

We also drove down Joe Overstreet Road near Kenansville and saw Bald Eagle, Tri-colored Heron, and more, but we were looking for Whooping Cranes. We found them after turning north on Canoe Creek Road. Continue reading Baby Owls
