Reaching Millions with Bible Verses… and a Dedicated Life

Tonight, the University of Florida Gators will play in the Sugar Bowl against undefeated Cincinnati. As he does in every game, Gators quarterback, Tim Tebow, will have a different Bible verse written on his eye black.

I read recently that when Tim wore John 3:16 under his eyes last season, Google recorded 93 million hits that day! So, I decided to check Google Trends for a handful of this season’s games and found that the verses I checked were number one for Google searches on game days. . . and not just number one, but “volcanic,” indicating a high volume.

If you want to see the graphs, use the following dates and/or Tim Tebow’s Bible references on Google Trends:

Sep 5 Proverbs 3: 5 – 6

Sep 12 Mark 8:36

Sep 19 Romans 8:28

Sep 26 Isaiah 40:31

Oct 10 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Oct 17 Psalm 23:1

Oct 24 Ephesians 4:32

Oct 31 Philippians 4: 6 – 7

Nov 7 Colossians 3:23

Nov 14 Joshua 1: 8 – 9

Nov 21 Romans 1: 16

Nov 28 Hebrews 12: 1 – 2

Dec 5 John 16:33

Jan 1 Ephesians 2: 8 – 10

Tim has reflected Jesus Christ in his character and dedication. He has used his popularity to find more ways to present the Gospel. For instance, in two Florida prisons, 120 inmates responded to his invitation to receive Christ.

It’s amazing how Tim’s simple act of putting Bible verses on his face has exposed millions to God’s Word! Tim has also been faithful to share his faith, using his accomplishments as a platform for the Gospel.
