A Small Act of Kindness

Mark had just helped Bill pick up the books, sweaters, and other items he had just dropped. They were walking home from school and Mark continued to walk with Bill and they ended up spending the afternoon getting to know each other. Mark continued on home. They saw each other around school after that and went on to attend the same high school, where they saw each other occasionally. Just before graduation, Bill reminded Mark of the day they met. “Did you ever wonder why I was carrying so many things home that day?” he asked. “I cleaned out my … Continue reading A Small Act of Kindness

A Smashing Weekend

We had planned a nice time all together for the weekend, but our plans were changed when Ben and Josh were hit on their way to meet a friend. The boys are bruised and sore, but O.K. We are very grateful to God that the boys escaped major injury and are also praying for the woman who hit them and had to be taken to a hospital. We do not know anything more about her. (Yes, it was a lot of traveling!) After all this thorough research, our leadership recently determined that Oracle’s Siebel CRM product would provide the foundational piece for our new Connect and Care initiative. Often, … Continue reading “For Such a Time as This”

The Verbal Bombshell

Two VERY young boys, maybe ten and twelve-years old, walked up to me. “Is it okay if we give you this literature?” “No, it isn’t,” I replied. I stood up from my weeding project. “Jesus is fully God, guys. Seek the truth.” They turned and left right away. I looked across the street to see two young girls also strolling up to our neighbor’s house. The girls were in their teens. I know I did not handle that well. I probably missed a chance to have more of an impact in their lives, even briefly. So, I pondered how I … Continue reading The Verbal Bombshell
