The Sower on CCCI.ORG

I am honored that one of the writers for Campus Crusade’s main web site, ccci.org, asked if he could publish a post from The Sower. He picked the February 8, 2008, article about a recent conversation I had on a flight to Phoenix. It seemed as if I was “unsuccessful” in trying to witness to the man next to me, but I won’t spoil the story line. You can read the story for yourself, if you did not read it a few weeks ago. To read the article, go to ccci.org and click on the third photo with the airplane … Continue reading The Sower on CCCI.ORG

The Spirit-Filled Life

“I’m afraid I will not stay committed,” Beverly confided in me. “I have turned my back on God for thirty years.” “It is impossible for you to keep from falling back into sinful habits,” I explained, “but not for Jesus. He is the one who will be giving you the power you will need.” I pulled out a tract on How to be filled with the Holy Spirit and we started reading through it together. We could hear the church service finishing up through the closed door and I asked her if she was concerned for her purse that she … Continue reading The Spirit-Filled Life

God Makes the Connections

“Hello. Who’s there? Who is this?” No one spoke when one of our Eastern European staff members answered his phone, but he heard breathing. Since the other person did not say anything, he hung up. Later, the phone rang two more times. On the third time, a timid voice said, “This is Helena. I’m seventeen years old. I’ve been asking God to help me. I want to know more about God. I decided to call the number that was in my mind and see if God will answer me and help me.” Then Helena invited Christ into her life over … Continue reading God Makes the Connections

A Waste of Time?

The man next to me turned in his seat and loudly spoke to his wife across the aisle and back a row, “Do you have a book?” he asked her, and then added, “If someone sits next to me, they should talk to me.” He reached across the aisle and tucked the Stephen King book in the pocket on the back of the seat in front of him. Inwardly, I sighed. I had picked out my window seat about five minutes earlier. This gentleman had only just seated himself next to me and I had been looking at a magazine. … Continue reading A Waste of Time?

Tuned in to God’s Plan (excerpt)

“Craig Lawrence… started and ran two TV stations and owned an advertising agency in his home state of South Dakota. Yet he felt a growing sense of discontentment. One day he traveled to a retreat center to talk to God. He told his wife, Marcia, ‘I’m not coming back until God speaks.’ At the retreat center he dropped to his knees and cried tears over his seemingly wasted thirty-four years. He told God, ‘I’ll do anything and give You everything.’ Craig gave Christ control of his life that day, and the Holy Spirit stepped in to give him the power … Continue reading Tuned in to God’s Plan (excerpt)

The Sower Quoted in Worldwide Challenge Magazine

Recently, I was asked if a writer from Campus Crusade’s award-winning magazine, Worldwide Challenge, could share a story from The Sower blog. The reporter was writing an article encouraging readers to share their faith with people they encounter every day. The article, “Gospel on the Go,” is in the January / February 2008 issue on page 39, or you can follow this link to read it, if you like. The post that the reporter used for the article was When the face is familiar. With a circulation of almost 90,000, WWC magazine challenges Campus Crusade’s friends and donors to partner … Continue reading The Sower Quoted in Worldwide Challenge Magazine
