Mike helps with new web site enhancements

Recently the “Schmitt’s Family News” (SFN) caught up with a very busy Mike to find out about an important computer project he has been working on for a number of months. SFN: Your project involves a special web site, the Giving site, which thousands of donors use to donate to Campus Crusade for Christ’s staff and ministries. Mike: That’s right! When we began this project, the Giving site (give.ccci.org) allowed our donors to give a one-time or monthly gift using a credit card. Our project expanded the capabilities of give.ccci.org and was a significant revision. We added the ability for … Continue reading Mike helps with new web site enhancements

Witnessing to the Extreme

I stood at the foot of a wall of colorful Crocs. A rainbow of foam shoes reached twenty feet high, almost to the ceiling. “Now, how am I going to be able to try on a pair?” I thought. Just then, Adam arrived. “May I help you?” he asked. “I’ve read that Crocs are good for heel pain,” I explained, “and they fit differently than normal shoes.” “That’s right,” Adam agreed. “Can I get a pair for you to try?” I pointed to a conservative pearl-colored pair next to the electric-teal-colored ones that I really liked. Already they number 4.5 million foreign-born here out of a state population of 18 million. The students in the Miami-Dade area speak 167 languages! Surprisingly, 12.6 million, or 70% of the people living here. do not have a relationship with … Continue reading Another Reason Why We Are Here

A Tale of Three Cities

In one day, we “started” three kids in three schools in three cities! Jenny was first as she headed off to high school this morning. She is glad to be a junior, but was not happy that summer vacation is over. She is especially looking forward to her higher level IB theater coursework. Mike, Ben, and Josh left next at 8 AM with a van and a car full of Ben’s things. They were in Tallahassee by 12:30 waiting in line to get the keys to his apartment. Ben reported to work at 3. He will be a Teaching Assistant … Continue reading A Tale of Three Cities

While They Work

I try to be aware of the fact that the person I am often chatting with is at work. I do not want to get them in trouble by talking too long. Most of the time with clerks of course, I do not have a very long conversation, especially if someone is waiting in line behind me. Only once have I continued a conversation while a clerk started helping the next customer. I normally would not do that. If no one is in line behind me, I would like to get in the habit of seeing if we can talk … Continue reading While They Work
