Ben and Family Visit – Oct. 2012

Ben, Bonnie, and Patrick came to visit for four-and-a-half days. Here’s a few highlights.

Good friends of theirs were getting married in St. Petersburg, so we were Patrick’s  babysitters Friday night while they were gone. (Check out our photos!)

On Saturday, family friends dropped by to see them and to play games. What a fun day! We played Kubb, Settlers of Catan:Traders and Barbarians, and Big Taboo.

Sunday afternoon, we all went to Stetson to take Jenn back to school.  We decided on Tony’s New York Pizza for dinner, which was delicions! Afterwards, Jenn gave us a walking tour, stopping at the fountain in the center of campus.  Patrick was fascinated by the splashing and changing colors.

The Sower by Vincent Van Gogh

Nothing Can Hinder the Lord from Saving

The Sower by Vincent Van Gogh

“In a city in Egypt, a Christian woman we will call Eman received an invitation around November 1994 that made her tremble with fear.

“‘Is this a trap?’ she wondered.

“She had been asked to pray for a sick woman at the home of a devout and influential Muslim leader. The ill woman knew Eman to be a Christian, and Eman knew that most Muslims recognize Isa (Jesus) as a healer. But Eman had no idea what she was getting into.

“Feeling a little like Ananias being sent by God to pray for Saul, the enemy of the early Church, Eman drove to the home of the Muslim leader, whom we will call Mohammed Ibrahim. After a short time at the house praying for the woman, Eman hurried back to her car, eager to make her escape. To her horror, Ibrahim followed her out. He forced himself into her car and shut the door. Continue reading “Nothing Can Hinder the Lord from Saving”

Fall Migration: Mead Botanical Gardens

Veery by Sheila

I discovered that Mead Botanical Gardens, not far from Rollins College in Winter Park, is a hot spot for fall migrators, especially warblers. I had a great morning about two weeks ago with neighbor and friend, Sheila. We joined an Audobon Society guided walk and saw lots of birds (the last walk they’ll offer for the fall migration is on October 27th). Continue reading “Fall Migration: Mead Botanical Gardens”

Bill Bright “Comes Home”

Last month, Dr. Bill Bright was re-interred in a special garden on the grounds of Campus Crusade for Christ headquarters.

Bright Memorial Gardens was presented to the staff during a memorial service on August 21st. Dr. Bright’s long-time friend and associate, Bailey Marks, explained that, on several occasions, Dr. Bright expressed how he wished to be buried. He desired to be laid to rest tastefully and close to the staff he loved so dearly; however, due to logistical issues, he was buried in an Orlando cemetary after he went to be with the Lord in 2003.

God continued to lay those conversations on Bailey’s heart and mind. Continue reading “Bill Bright “Comes Home””

A Milestone Project: Connect and Care Launches This Month

If you’ve been following our ministry for awhile, you know that Mike, as the lead business analyst for a team of five analysts, has been working on the Connect and Care system for four years now.   The Project Management Office he’s a part of is making sure this new system will provide key functions for our staff and ministries.

Well, the day is finally here! Join the entire Cru Technology team in praising God as we successfully moved millions of data records from our current donor system to our new Connect and Care system during September 1 to 6.  We desired to honor Campus Crusade’s more than four million donors by carefully and accurately transferring this most important data.
