We thoroughly enjoyed seeing these baby Horned Owls huddled together against the wind. The couple who own the property have a webcam hooked up to their TV and invited us in to see the owlets.
We also drove down Joe Overstreet Road near Kenansville and saw Bald Eagle, Tri-colored Heron, and more, but we were looking for Whooping Cranes. We found them after turning north on Canoe Creek Road. Continue reading Baby Owls
Mike and Sus had an opportunity to go to Busch Gardens for a day. We wanted to see their Christmas shows and their decorations. We were not disappointed. We enjoyed a very good Gospel-style Christmas concert and a great ice skating show. Both shows were very well done. For dinner we also recommend the Zambia Smokehouse in Stanleyville. We were able to share a meal because of the portion sizes and the food was delicious! At the end of the day, the lighting was fantastic… a photographer’s delight! We had a nice, leisurely day at Gatorland last Saturday. Sus is an avid birdwatcher so she especially enjoyed seeing the rookery. We watched egrets build nests and saw an egg in one nest and an adult feeding a hatchling in another one! We also saw four spoonbills nesting. The late sun over the lagoon made for good photography. Gatorland is offering a Florida resident special through February, so the park was crowded, but crowds were thinnest either early in the day or late. In fact, the park stayed open past closing and a lot of the crowds had gone. … Continue reading Gatorland revisited
