75th Bach Festival

This year is the 75th anniversary of the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park. Tonight, we attended a free open rehearsal for the big anniversary concert that will be performed on the 20th. While waiting for the rehearsal to start, Sus had an opportunity to shake hands with the conductor, Dr. John Sinclair. “Thank you so much for the Christmas Candlelight Processional concerts at EPCOT,” I said. “Why, thank you for saying that,” he replied. “I just did my 500th performance this past year. I thought I would quit after 500, but I am going to keep doing them.” After … Continue reading 75th Bach Festival

Arts Fest

We did not know that for more than twenty years Arts Fest has been offering free admission to different venues in four central Florida counties. We decided to participate. Today, we dropped in on the Out of This World exhibit at the History Center in downtown Orlando. We saw sci-fi props and costumes from Star Trek, Star Wars, and more. Last week, we visited the Cornell Fine Arts Museum on the beautiful campus of Rollins College. We were particularly fascinated with a traveling exhibit, Man and Machine, which featured Soviet posters from Stalin’s time. Downtown Winter Park is next to … Continue reading Arts Fest

Tim Tebow

You are probably aware of the pre-game uproar about the two Super Bowl ads featuring Tim Tebow, University of Florida’s quarterback, and his mother, Pam. Reaching Millions with Bible Verses… and a Dedicated Life

Tonight, the University of Florida Gators will play in the Sugar Bowl against undefeated Cincinnati. As he does in every game, Gators quarterback, Tim Tebow, will have a different Bible verse written on his eye black. I read recently that when Tim wore John 3:16 under his eyes last season, Google recorded 93 million hits that day! So, I decided to check Google Trends for a handful of this season’s games and found that the verses I checked were number one for Google searches on game days. . . and not just number one, but “volcanic,” indicating a high volume. … Continue reading Reaching Millions with Bible Verses… and a Dedicated Life
