The Knock at the Door

A lanky teen, dressed in black, waited at our door with a group of his friends. After we chatted with him, we barely sat long before we had to pop up again and answer the doorbell. A sweet little girl stood at the door, her hair in pigtails, asking if we could give her something for free. Yes, it is “Trick or Treat” time again. We consider it a perfect time to hand out tracts with our candy. (It’s gotta be chocolate if they are going to remember YOUR house!) What an opportunity to offer the free gift of salvation … Continue reading The Knock at the Door

Heaven

“As human beings, we have a terminal disease called mortality. The current death rate is 100 percent. Unless Christ returns soon, we’re all going to die. We don’t like to think about death; yet, worldwide, 3 people die every second, 180 every minute and nearly 11,000 every hour. The Turning Point

“Stupid idiot!” I exclaimed. As I was ready to go through the intersection near Central City Mall, a car had made a dangerous and illegal turn in front of me. Immediately, James 3: 9 – 10 came into my mind. “With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. I vividly remember that moment to this day. … Continue reading The Turning Point

DaVinci DiLemma

“Have you read The DaVinci Code?” Bruce asked in his warm, London accent. “No,” we admitted, our thoughts searching for any useful nugget in our brains that we could unearth for this occasion. This was a year ago before the recent media hype. Our winter neighbors, Bruce and Sarah, were over for dessert and a game of Cranium. God practically dropped this opening in our laps to talk about spiritual things and we didn’t know how to handle it! Later, when The DaVinci Code mini-magazines came out in February this year, I took two copies next door to Bruce and … Continue reading DaVinci DiLemma

Which is more beautiful? A person’s feet or their tongue?

Which is more beautiful? A person’s feet or their tongue? “Well, that’s an unusual question,” you say as you picture pampered feet in a pair of pricey stilettos. Then you remember the rich tones of a Shakespearean actor or of your favorite singer, or the deep bass voice of your pastor reading the Word of God. You conclude that the tongue seems more important at least. Also, you know in witnessing to others it is even essential to be prepared to know what to say. However, God warns us in James 3: 8 – 11 that the tongue cannot be … Continue reading Which is more beautiful? A person’s feet or their tongue?
