“And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those He has given me, but that I should raise them up at the last day. For it is my Father’s will that all who see His Son and believe in Him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day.” ~ John 6:39-40 (NLT)
Jesus Will Not Lose Even One
At this time of year, we think about Jesus’ road to the Cross. He traveled to Jerusalem, knowing He would die there as a substitute payment for our sins. Because of Christ’s sacrifice for us we will stand before God, free of guilt and shame. His death for us “opened a new and life-giving way… right into the presence of God.” (Hebrews 10: 20-22)
Easter may also bring to mind memories of the loved ones who have gone before us or stand now at Death’s door.
The Bible repeatedly assures us that God will raise His people from the dead. “For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.” (1 Thessalonians 4:14)
We Will Be with God Forever
We may grieve for a time when we lose a loved one, but we have hope. We’ll be together again. God will raise His children to life and to be with Him forever. Jesus explains this in John 14: 1-6:
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am… I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
Jesus promises in John 6:39 that He will “not lose even one of all those He has given me.”
An Easter Meditation
This Easter season, we invite you to join us in meditating on these truths. We are secure in our relationship with God, knowing we will be with Him forever.
