A Tale of Three Cities

In one day, we “started” three kids in three schools in three cities! Jenny was first as she headed off to high school this morning. She is glad to be a junior, but was not happy that summer vacation is over. She is especially looking forward to her higher level IB theater coursework. Mike, Ben, and Josh left next at 8 AM with a van and a car full of Ben’s things. They were in Tallahassee by 12:30 waiting in line to get the keys to his apartment. Ben reported to work at 3. He will be a Teaching Assistant … Continue reading A Tale of Three Cities

While They Work

I try to be aware of the fact that the person I am often chatting with is at work. I do not want to get them in trouble by talking too long. Only once have I continued a conversation while a clerk started helping the next customer. I normally would not do that. If no one is in line behind me, I would like to get in the habit of seeing if we can talk … Continue reading While They Work

Fortunately, Mo was still at the counter and was not waiting on anyone. … Continue reading Turning Back

MP3 and Me

“There she is again,” I thought. Almost every time I went to the fitness center, I saw a tall, Middle Eastern young woman. I had never talked to her and I was feeling awkward as the weeks turned to months. It seemed that she was a little awkward about seeing me, too. Normally, I strike up conversations early. The longer the time goes from initial encounter to introduction, the harder I find it to introduce myself. During this time, I had also been given a MP3 player, so I was listening to music or audio books when I could have … Continue reading MP3 and Me

National Staff Training Conference

We are always challenged when we attend Campus Crusade’s National U. S. Staff Conference. This photo is of our president, Dr. Steve Douglass, delivering a very good message on “How to Finish Strong.” Our main speakers were Chip Ingram of Living on the Edge and Dr. Joel Hunter, who looks strikingly like President George W. Bush. Creativity was highlighted several times at this year’s conference. We saw cutting-edge evangelistic short films, produced by upcoming new filmmakers, which appeal to today’s media-oriented students. We previewed a new version of The Jesus Film which will be released in October and will appeal … Continue reading National Staff Training Conference
