We are always challenged when we attend Campus Crusade’s National U. S. Staff Conference. This photo is of our president, Dr. Steve Douglass, delivering a very good message on “How to Finish Strong.”
Our main speakers were Chip Ingram of Living on the Edge and Dr. Joel Hunter, who looks strikingly like President George W. Bush.
Creativity was highlighted several times at this year’s conference. We saw cutting-edge evangelistic short films, produced by upcoming new filmmakers, which appeal to today’s media-oriented students. We previewed a new version of The Jesus Film which will be released in October and will appeal to women and their needs.
We had numerous seminars to choose from. Sus particularly enjoyed a seminar about CoJourners which is helping students understand evangelism as going on a spiritual journey with others.
The staff women had a Women of Faith mini-conference on Monday with Sheila Walsh, Luci Swindoll, Marilyn Meberg, Patsy Clairmont, Anita Renfroe, and our own Mary Graham. Mary was on CCC staff for 29 years before taking on the ministry of Women of Faith.
One evening, three members of Switchfoot dropped in to give an impromptu acoustic concert. We also had concerts on two other evenings by Ginny Owens and Chris Tomlin.
And of course, we enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting fellow staff serving all across the country, even internationally, to reach students, soldiers, families, the illiterate, and the homeless.
You can see a photo of us on our day off at Rocky Mountain National Park on our family website.
