I was trying on yet another pair of athletic shoes. Several boxes towered next to me on the bench.
“Can I help you?”
I looked up to see the young clerk next to me.
“Sure,” I said. “It’s hard to reach some of the boxes.”
“I’ll be glad to get a different size of shoes for you,” she offered.
I chuckled. “I’m taller than you,” I said.
She smiled back, “I’ll get a ladder.”
When she returned with a size 8 1/2 pair, I asked Warda about her name.
“It means ‘red rose,'” she explained. “I’m from Pakistan.”
I found out Warda is Muslim and is a senior in a local high school.
I offered her a tract, Would You Like to Know God Personally? She looked at the title with great interest.
“This booklet tells you about Isa,” I said.
“You know the right name to use,” she exclaimed.
We talked some more about how Isa (Jesus) provided a way for us to know God.
“I’m going to have to look into this,” she replied.
I asked Warda more about school and her plans for college. I gave her my email address in case she had any questions and then offered to pray with her. She was very pleased that I would offer and thanked me for praying for her to know God personally and for her plans for college.
Thank you, for praying for Warda today. Do you know a young person who would like to know more about Jesus?
