100,000 Public School Teachers Trained in 30 Years

Masha, a teacher, was having difficulty with Nadya, her daughter. Nadya challenged her mother’s authority until Masha attended a seminar on The Shape of Your Child’s Future. This nine-lesson resource comes from a ministry of Cru, the International School Project (ISP).

From Communism to Covid-19, ISP Celebrates 30 Years

In 1990, as Communism crumbled in the former Soviet Union, the JESUS film premiered in Moscow for the first time. Afterward, a deputy minister of education asked Paul Eshleman to help him show the film in every school throughout Russia. Paul was the director of the JESUS Film Project at the time. He agreed and began to secure more than 65,000 copies of the film in Russian, one for each public school.

This leader also asked if Paul had a curriculum to go along with the film. (Of course, Communism was the basis for teaching students about morals and ethics.)

Paul said he could provide a curriculum and training for the teachers. A small team immediately began writing a morals and ethics curriculum. By May of 1991, they were ready to launch a pilot program to train teachers who would train others.

30 Years and 35+ Countries Later

Today, 30 years later, God continues to reach teachers and students in more than 35 countries on five continents. ISP has trained 100,000 public school teachers in the JESUS Film ethics curriculum. (Film clips, in the local language, are part of the teaching.)

Each ISP-trained teacher mentors 3 other teachers per year and teaches 74 to 82 students per year. Each teacher will impact 3,000 people in his or her lifetime. During the pandemic, educators around the world continued to teach students and minister to their colleagues. ISP teachers provided tools, training, and encouragement. We’re sure you rejoice with us at how God opened this door and continues to reach teachers and students. (Worldwide, there are 2 billion students and 80+ million teachers.)

Reaching all the world’s students is much larger than our Cru staff and volunteers alone can do. We also link arms with churches and ministries, working to fulfill the Great Commission together. You, too, help reach the world’s students and educators for Christ by your partnership with us and our ministry. Thank you!

We are blessed to serve Christ with you!
