I don’t remember what year we discovered this Florida state park, but I thought I would recommend it today.

Washington Oaks Gardens State Park is midway between St. Augustine and Daytona Beach on A1A.  You see from the photo the beach isn’t a typical lay-in-the-sun beach, but more appealing to an eco-tourist.

What you may enjoy at the park:

• Tidal pools on the beach
• Coastal scrub and hammock for birding
• Fishing
• Biking
• Hiking
• Reenactors
• And a beautiful formal gardens

The park is also popular for weddings and receptions.
