We enjoyed quite a bit of time with our family from November into January. In fact, I had to break all this fun into two posts, even though it’s not chronological.
“Part one” was about our family time over Christmas and into January. I’m finally writing about the entire week we visited Josh and Nicole in San Antonio for Thanksgiving.
So here’s “part two.”
Going back to November, I flew to D.C. for a fun weekend in early November to attend a beautiful family wedding, staying with Ben and Bonnie. Jenn also flew in for the wedding.
A few weeks later, Mike and I flew to San Antonio. Josh and Nicole had been living in Texas since September 2015 and were eager to have company and to show us around. They planned out a fun week for us.
Of course, we were looking forward to having Thanksgiving together and to visiting their church and taking a tour of where Josh works, Southwest Research Institute.
We explored shops, German town, historic sites, and gardens:
- Camp Verde General Store
- Fredricksburg, Texas
- Gruene, Texas
- San Antonio Botanical Garden
- The Riverwalk
- The Alamo
- Buc-ee’s
- Hotel Emma in the Pearl neighborhood
We enjoyed various restaurants and coffee shops:
- The Guenther House
- Maria Mia
- Magnolia Pancake Haus
- Aspen’s Brew
- Belgian Sweet Shop
- Julian’s Italian Pizzeria and Kitchen
Here’s one of our favorite photos of Josh and Nicole on San Antonio’s Riverwalk. Click on over to scroll through our San Antonio slideshow for more great pictures of our time together.
